Webster’s Dictionary defines “essential” as the “fundamental, basic nature of something.” That pretty much says where we’re going with this brand new Ethics workshop: a thorough exploration of the essence of ethics. We’ll be taking a complicated topic and delving into its essential parts. These “Essential 7” will make ethics a little easier to understand and use in ways that help both clients and therapists.

 Learning Objectives

Participants will:

  • Explore each of the 7 ethical principles used to guide ethical decision making and learn several ways to use that “essential” principle in applying ethics to everyday issues that arise for mental health professionals.

Karen McCleskey, Ed.D., a Licensed Counselor in private practice in Decatur, GA (a suburb of Atlanta), works with individuals and couples. Licensed since 1983, she has extensive experience and training as a therapist, and is known for her caring, compassionate, and practical style of working with clients. Karen received her doctorate in Counseling from Texas A&M-Commerce and her masters in Counseling Psychology from the University of Southern Mississippi. She has a rich and varied range of experiences in the field of counseling, working as a clinician at various mental health centers, as a counselor at university counseling centers, as a director of a university counseling center, and as a professor in counselor education departments at universities in Texas. She demonstrates her continuing commitment to teaching as an adjunct professor in Atlanta.
In addition to her private practice, Karen also provides continuing education workshops for therapists, and workshops and seminars for the general public. Karen's engaging presentation style, sense of humor, and ability to share information in a practical and down to earth manner make her a popular and sought after presenter.

Important Information About Our CEU Policy:

Ridgeview is instituting a new policy for issuing continuing education credits, based upon State Law and guidelines set forth by the Georgia Composite Board. If you are more than 15 minutes late in arriving for a seminar, you will not be allowed to enter until the first break. You will be welcome to remain for the balance of the presentation, but we will not be able to issue continuing education credits to you as a participant. This is according to agency regulations requiring attendance at the entire presentation in order for CEUs to be issued. We will also not be able to issue you a refund for the registration fee, since we have a stated refund policy and we will have already counted on your presence in planning for the seminar. We are instituting this policy in an effort to cut down on unnecessary interruptions during the presentation and to ensure that our accreditation to offer CEUs is not put into jeopardy. It is our goal to continue to provide you with quality, reasonably priced opportunities to acquire credits needed for your license renewal. Please plan to arrive early or on time for these events. We offer refreshments for your enjoyment before each seminar.
