James D. Vargo, M.D.

Dr. Jim Vargo has been in private practice in adult psychiatry for 24 years.  He has served as Director of Quality Assurance at Ridgeview since 1983, and was named Medical Director in 1993. A graduate of the Emory University School of Medicine, he completed his residency in Psychiatry at Emory University Hospital. Dr. Vargo is board certified in Psychiatry, and was recently certified in Addiction Psychiatry. He has a practice on the Ridgeview campus, and in Alpharetta,

Walter F. Anderson, M.D.

Dr. Anderson received his medical degree from Emory University School of Medicine in 1976 and completed his residency in psychiatry at the Institute of Living in Hartford, Connecticut in 1980. He has been in private practice for 23 years and served previously as Medical Director at CPC Parkwood and Chief of the Inpatient Psychiatry Unit at the Atlanta VA Medical Center. He was Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at Emory University School of Medicine from 1980 – 1998. Dr. Anderson is board certified in psychiatry and neurology. He is a member of the Georgia and American Psychiatric Associations, the Medical Associations of Atlanta and Georgia, the American Medical Association, and the American Association for Technology in Psychiatry. Dr. Anderson has previously served on a variety of committees and task forces relevant to psychiatric treatment, ethical practice, and lawyer impairment. Ashraf Attalla, M.D

Dr.  Ashraf Attalla earned his M.D. at Alexandria University School of Medicine in Alexandria, Egypt and completed his General Psychiatry Fellowship at the University of Missouri at Kansas City in July 2001.  He completed his Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard Medical School in July 2003 and completed his Research and Clinical Fellowship there in July 2004.  Dr. Attalla also served as Medical Director of the Child Psychiatry Outpatient Clinic at Massachusetts General Hospital.  Dr. Attalla is experienced in the areas of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and Addiction. Steven M. Lynn, M.D.
Dr. Lynn is a graduate of Wayne State Medical University in Detroit, Michigan and completed his residency at Emory University in Atlanta. He has been in private practice and an attending psychiatrist at Ridgeview Institute for 17 years. Dr. Lynn is board certified in Psychiatry and Addiction Psychiatry.  He is also certified by the American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM). Dr. Lynn was President of Ridgeview’s Medical Staff from 1995-1996 and served as Medical Director of Anchor Hospital from 1999-2001. His office is located on the Ridgeview campus, (770) 333-1755.

Older Adult Services


Bharat Patel, M.D.
Dr. Bharat Patel joined Ridgeview Institute in July 2000 as Director of the Older Adult Services. Dr. Patel leads the clinical team in the treatment of older adult patients, as well as program development and quality assurance. His experience, credentials and enthusiasm for treating the elderly with psychiatric and substance abuse problems has brought great expertise to the program. He practiced medicine for 15 years as a General Practitioner before completing a Psychiatry residency at the University of Missouri in June 1999. Dr. Patel went on to specialize in treating the elderly and completed a Geriatric Psychiatry Fellowship in June 2000 at Medical University of South Carolina. Women's Services


Nina
Kram Schlachter, D.O., has served as Medical Program Director of Women's Services at Ridgeview Institute since 1991. A graduate of Vassar College and The University of Des Moines College of Osteopathic Medicine and Surgery, she is double board certified in family practice and psychiatry. Dr. Schlachter completed her psychiatry residency at Emory University where she served as Chief Resident at Grady Memorial Hospital and is a Distinguished Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association. She has lectured medical students and residents, served on numerous committees, authored many articles and is a frequent speaker on women's issues. Adult Partial Hospitalization Programs


BRANKO RADULOVACKI, M.D., MBA
, a board-certified psychiatrist, has served as Director of Adult Psychiatric Partial Hospitalization at Ridgeview Institute since 2000.  He earned his medical degree, with honors, from the University of Illinois and completed his psychiatry residency at Yale.  He also earned a Masters in Business Administration from the University of Chicago.  Dr. Radulovacki treats adults with depression, bipolar and anxiety disorders, and addictions.  He specializes in acute/crisis care and treatment of individuals with dual diagnoses.  He currently serves on the provider advisory board at Skyland Trail, and on the board of trustees of the Georgia  Psychiatric Physicians Association (GPPA).  Atlanta Magazine named him one of the Top 5 psychiatrists in metro Atlanta in 2007.  His practice is located on the Ridgeview campus at 4015 South Cobb Drive, Suite 125, Smyrna, Georgia.  Office phone: 770/434-5833.
